I think this photograph serves perfectly its subject in its composition. The square cropping is an interesting decision to drive the attention directly to the main character of the scene as the eye is caught by the middle of the picture.
To me the slight angle and the slope fit nicely the theme. As I look the sleeping old man the expression "to fall in the arms of Morpheus" comes to my mind and the slope seems to turn into a sort of rocking arm.
The black and white shading seems to suit the picture but I've the impression it could have been a little better to drive the attention on the main character. Though the dark top of the lady help the sleeping man's head to stand out it also brings a lot of attention back on her and the other man.
Still this is a really nice photo and this old man's features are priceless and truly beautiful.
